Gate City Youth Baseball

The town of Gate City should be very proud of their Youth Baseball program and their fans. This past weekend the Jr. league team participated in our invitational tournament here in Bristol and they came in runner-up. They lost in the finals 2-1 to Lee Bank Jr. League from Bristol. This game was a rarity for Jr. league outstanding pitching throughout the game and no errors. This team was also by far the youngest team in the Tournament. Participating teams were from Marion, Chilhowie, Bristol, Tn., Glade Spring, and Three teams from Bristol, Va. They played almost mistake free baseball for three consecutive days. With all the Horror stories you here going on in youth sporting events the tournament's we have in Bristol are the exact opposite. The fans, players, and coaches were great. The baseball games coming up in the future between Gate City, Va. High and Battle will be great. For me It will be a fun 4 years coming up to watch.
Coming up soon on June 29th The District 1 Jr. League All-Star Tournament will be held in Bristol. If you want to see the near future in High school baseball and also some well played baseball come on over and check it out. The price of admission is pretty good also..... FREE!!.

that was a nice gesture about the game played on monday catnstripes. probably the best pitched, played, and coached game that i have been involved with in a while. the only negative was the batting but the great pitching had something to do with that.you are right about the youth of the gate city team. maybe the youngest gate city junior league team ever but they are really getting the concept and are fundamentally sound. there is still a lot of work to do however and we thank you for the compliment about the young blue devils.

when i posted last night,i just got home from out of town and did not know the score of the game. what happened ?

we hit the ball pretty good.the mccall kid can really bring it.we got 3 runs off of him,his arm started hurtin and they took him out.i believe that is why anyway.by the time hunter is a senior he will throwning in 90's for sure,maybe sooner.the score last night was 16-5.

We played like crap, but your kids hit the ball very well. We have a couple of boys that are having real trouble with their attitudes. Hunter is having trouble shaking this bicep pull he got while pitching JV against Marion. Last night his fastball was probably 8-10 mph off and curve not working. It's not really hurting but tight.
